Following Cyclone Gabrielle, BOPLASS IT Managers investigated Starlink satellite WAN services to bolster disaster recovery and remote operations. While collective procurement didn’t yield financial benefits, individual council implementations have begun. A parallel project is assessing Starlink and other technologies to improve connectivity for lone workers in remote areas – led by the BOPLASS Health & Safety and IT teams.
