BOPLASS welcomes a new Director

BOPLASS is delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Perdia as BOPLASS director representing Whakatāne District Council.

Steven joined Whakatāne District Council in July 2021, having come from Porirua City Council where he was the General Manager - Partnerships & Growth. Prior to that, Steven was working with the Ministry of Education as the lead negotiator for the closure of the Charter Schools programme. Utilising his honours degree in Economics and Strategic Management, Steven spent six years in post-quake Christchurch leading the economic recovery engagement and strategy. "During this period I really enjoyed being on the Christchurch Red Zone Regeneration Advisory Board, which developed the Red Zone Regeneration Plan, and spending several years on Treasury's Living Standards Committee and the Canterbury University Economics and Law Advisory Group." (Whakatāne District Council, 2024)

"I'm delighted to be able to announce this appointment. I've found Steve to be a highly dedicated General Manager with a good sense of humour, which I consider a good foundation on which to further build our working relationship, for the good of the communities we serve," Mayor Luca adds. Steven's role as Chief Executive of Whakatāne District Council was effective 9 September 2024 and the council appointed him director of BOPLASS effective 17 October 2024.
